All the flags below are 52 x 66 inches. For indoor and parade use, they are embroidered, trimmed with 2 1/2 inch wide fringe as indicated, equipped with cords and tassels (cord 8 feet 6 inches long) and mounted on staffs with chrome-plated spearhead finials. Same size without fringe, etc., is used for hoisting on halyards. A note on colors: ultramarine blue and golden yellow are officially defined by reference to the a standard color card used for all U.S. government flags.

Secretary of the Air Force

The Secretary of the Air Force's flag is ultramarine blue, 52 by 66 inches, and has the Air Force coat of arms (officially blazoned as blue celeste a thunderbolt or garnished gules above a base nebuly argent; for crest an American bald eagle wings elevated before a cloud all proper) at the center and a white star in each corner. The fringe is golden yellow, the cord and tassels ultramarine blue and golden yellow. From the establishment of the Department of the Air Force in 1947 until the mid 1950s the Secretary flew an ultramarine blue flag with a white star pierced red with two golden yellow wings expanded, and a star in each corner. The current design came into use in the 1953-56 timeframe.
